Week 55

Monday, November 13, 2017

Well another week has come and gone and I am now coming to realize how short a mission really is.

This past week has been full of funny moments. Some funny have been the classes we have been teaching. Tennis and family history. Tennis is a blast, even though we only have like 3 people there every week. One of them is the patriarch, whose name is João. He is like 70 years old and is so funny to see him run around and try to hit the tennis ball. Then we have a few more people that are pretty funny as well, but they play a bit better the João. And our family history class is going pretty well as well. We only have like 5 people there but the spirit of Elijah is there helping us do this work. Now though we have a problem. People cant find their great grandparents records. It is sad, but we are trying to find some way that we can connect this place to the churches resources. Its kinda fun.

Other than that, nothing much has really happened. We have been able to serve in a different way this Pday. Today we went to Calhau, this small town on the outskirts of the Island. We went and showed them how to clean their teeth. Man, was that fun. Then it reminded me of how much we have. These kids have literally nothing, and we have so much. So, before the next time you all go and complain for not having enough of something, or not having this one thing that is absolutely essential to have, think about the people who lived out in this country and all the other countries who have no idea what it means to have a smartphone, car, or even good clothes. This week let us be more grateful for what we do have. Love you all and hope you have a good week.

Love Elder Nelson
