Week 7

Hey Mom!!!

WOW!! That´s all I can say about my first week. Wow. WOW. It´s insane. So the sisters did make it back to Utah and are safe in the MTC. They are coming out to Cabo Verde in like a few days. I´m good here. I feel great. Tired because of all the walking but super good. My companion is Elder Robertson. Funny story about him. So Wednesday when I was getting introduced to the mission president and we ate food and stuff. After that we went out and just served for like a couple of hours. I got dropped off with Elder Smith and we served with... Elder Robertson. I didn't know he was going to be my trainer but he did so when they dropped me off he was like confused. But it was really good. During the few hours on Wednesday together, he was seeing how I was handiling everything and was evaluating me. I did't know any of this. So then we went back and slept in the AP´s house again. Then I got trained on Thursday and that´s when I met E Robertson. I was super happy cause he is a cool elder. He has been out a year in January and knows his way around the area after 5 transfers here. I´m adjusting really well. I don´t miss American things because this isn´t anywhere close to America. But we do have flushing toilets, running showers, laundry machine and filtered water. We do have to go and get gas but that´s not a bad thing. The people here are great. I love them here. Super happy and humble people. I have had like 10 or so lessons just in the first few days. Also Church, Zone Meeting and weekly planning all in the span of 3 days. So...life of a missionary. What else? It´s great. I wouldn´t trade it for anything. My Portuguese has grown alot here but still not really good. Everybody here speaks Creoule and it´s familiar with Portuguese but different at the same time. Everybody asks if I speak Creoule but I don´t so...I know the Holy Ghost is real. Very real along with the gift of tounges. I am also serving in Praia, Eugenio Lima. It´s really cool here. I love it

I´m glad you are all doing good. Espically Dad and Andrew. You all are an example to me of how to perservear and endure challenges well. Thank you. I´m glad Emma will be doing school. I just have felt that she doesn´t want to get married rn, but tbe time will come. And if it´s before I come home, I´ll just give her a bad time and give her husband a really bad time. Jk, it´ll be good. I do pray for you guys. If there is anything that I learned here is how to pray sincerely and with real intent. It´s awesome serving a mission. I also have some things to tell you, Just one thing actually. I won´t be skyping on Christmas. It will be on the 26th. Because Pres. Matthews doesn´t want us to spend 3 hours in the space of 2 days talking to family when we can just do it on Monday. Don´t shoot the messenger. It was my comp who told me. So don´t shoot him. I need him. He speaks Portuguese and Creoule. But that´s the news. I hope you can survive. Love you all and have a great week.

Love Elder Nelson
